Its Official - ID HIT THAT wins second consecutive LIGA Title

  Going into the LIGA 4 on Thursday, there was a sense of nervousness among ID HIT THAT. After another great regular season, there were a few questions that were unanswered. Such as:

(1) Sure, winning one is tough, but winning two in a row? Could they actually pull it off?


HIT THAT TOO Goes Back to back

(2) Could they play if pushed to their limits?
(3) Can they beat some of the hungrier squads who seem ready to grab a LIGA Title?


Well heres the Recap of the LIGA Championship

Semifinals

(1) ID HIT THAT    defeated    (4)  HIT THAT TOO  (2-0)

HIT THAT was tested by TOO but won both games late to move through. It looked at one point that  TOO would force a third game, but HIT THAT defeated its rival - again - and moved through.


(2) HOME SCHOOLERS      defeated    (3) CONSISTENT CHAOS   (2-0)

SCHOOLERS was able to win the key points as they won both games late (25-23  & 26-24)...CC had major opportunites to seize both games, but the SCHOOLERS gutted it out, and moved on to their first ever LIGA Championship. Noted, that in both games, CHAOS was able to grab a early lead, but SCHOOLERS went on a run mid-game to grab control late.


2015 LIGA Championship 

(1) ID HIT THAT     defeated    (2) HOME SCHOOLERS     (2-0)

ID HIT THAT came out refreshed and ready, and after a early battle, HIT THAT took control late and won the key first game, in which the SCHOOLERS seemed a little deflated. HIT THAT was dominant in the second game, although the SCHOOLERS kept fighting.
Ultimately it was too much HIT THAT as they was too strong, decisive, and calm and collected, and now have went back to back for the first time in their history.

After Thursday night, the resounding answer is YES after HIT THAT won their second consecutive LIGA title

MICHELLE wins Wed LIGA Championship; Thursday LIGA Final Four schedule, keys to victory

After all the hype, the buildup the anticipation, it came down to one night; as the Final 4 squads in the Wednesday LIGA battled it out.

Semi Finals  -


#5 MICHELLE defeats  #1 SET TO KILL  (2-1) 

STK came in winning every single series they played. But in this series, they were a half step slow on the draw, as they won the first series, but lost the next two as MICHELLE played extraordinary ball en route to a series win. In game 3 MICHELLE held a 4 point lead for latter part of game, and held strong. This marks the 3rd straight season the #1 seed did not win the tourney.

#2 NO NAMES  defeats  #3 DARKSIDE   (2-0)

DARKSIDE came in as champs, but without one of their top players and seemingly in regular season mode, it was NO NAMES who cruised through for the victory. NO NAMES was sharp, and was able to win in straight sets. DARKSIDE didn't really get into the series until the second game, and by then it was too late.

#5 MICHELLE defeats #2 NO NAMES  (2-0) 

MICHELLE gets 2nd LIGA Championship

In effort reminiscent of last years championship run, MICHELLE came out with so much energy and fire, that they took control early and basically dictated the game. NO NAMES could not match the intensity and lost both games within the first five minutes of the game. MICHELLE was on fire, and was able to cover ground defensively which was huge.
This is MICHELLE's second championship in last 5 seasons.

Defeated NOTHIN BUT NET  (2-0)

The defending champs will look to do something very few teams have done -which is win back to back championships. They had a easy one last week, but they have played dominant ball for the entire season. They have been challenged one time this season. KEYS TO VICTORY: They must stay focused for the entire night. If not? It could be a upset, because as talented as HIT THAT is, there are 3 other talented teams as well, waiting for the opportunity to take them out.


#2  HOME SCHOOLERS  
  Def. Chill N Serve  (2-0)

The "SCHOOLERS" have come into their own this season, amassing their best record and getting into LIGA 4 for consecutive seasons. Now can they go to another level? KEYS TO VICTORY: SCHOOLERS must not be overwhelmed by the moment, as the LIGA Championships are - in one word - intense. They have the talent, can they play through adversity and rise up?


#3 CONSISTENT CHAOS  
  Defeated  SHANKAPOTOMOUS  (2-0)
The CHAOS continues to blister through the season, and have a lot of momentum coming into semis after another great effort last week. Easily the hottest team in the LIGA. KEYS TO VICTORY: CC must stay in tune and focused, as they have seemingly gotten to the point where their team chemistry is possibly best in the LIGA. Also must have reserve energy tank, as it will be a grind to get LIGA Title.


#4 ID HIT THAT TOO
  Defeated SERVING UP A BUZZ  (2-1)
  Just when u think HIT THAT TOO can't possibly win? They get a W.  HIT THAT TOO ends up in the semis again after a classic 4 vs 5 battle in the first round, and will face its nemesis again - this time for a chance at the LIGA Championships. KEYS TO VICTORY:  HIT THAT TOO must take its game to another level and stay focused for entire series. They have the squad to do it. Can they make it happen?

The LIGA Final Four goes down tnite; Keys to victory for Set To Kill, No Names, Michelle, & Darkside

With 3 of the top 4 seeds winning, and the one other team (#5 Michelle) with a LIGA Title under their belt, this will be a intense, tough Final Four with all the teams feeling like they have a legit shot at being the first Champion of 2015.

Here's the storylines & keys to victory for each squad:

SET TO KILL - 1 seed
 Def Roberts (2-0)
 STK was all business in their first game vs ROBERTS. Granted, it was 1vs8 but the focus was there. In order for STK to win, they must have stamina, because they will be tested tonite. They have all the tools to win, and have been the most consistent team this season, by far.
Odds to win: 3-2


NO NAMES - 2 seed
Def Some Like it Hot (2-0)
NO NAMES are the suprise team in this season, as they started slow, but finished on a blistering pace and haven't looked back. In order for NO NAMES to win, they must stay aggressive throughout the night. They haven't won a LIGA title before, and you can see the hunger. But will they be too laid back to take the title?
Odds to win: 5-1



Can DARKSIDE go back to back tnite?

DARKSIDE - 3 seed
Def Net Love (2-0)
 DARKSIDE won the LIGA last season, and sit in the same spot as last season - in the 3 spot in the semifinals. Call it a coincidence or whatever u want, but the LIGA title holders will be ready. For DARKSIDE to win, they will need to be on point from the start, because the teams are very strong and hungry. One concern, has been a little lethargy, but I dint expect to see any of that tonite.
Odds to win: 3-1


MICHELLE - 5 seed
Def Ball Busters (2-1)
 Easily the most intriguing team of the tourney, as MICHELLE was #1 just 3 weeks into season and fell from the top rapidly with a 9 game losing streak - yes - 9, but rallied back and stunned the 4 seeded Ball Buster crew in a thrilling game. For MICHELLE to win, they must play mistake free, as the energy and juice will be there. Question is, which MICHELLE team will we see?
Odds to win: 10-1

Final LIGA Standings (thursday); 1st round playoff matchups, Possible Spring Quad League?

As the regular season has ended we embark on the first ever playoffs of 2015. And its looking a little like the winter of 2014 as the top dog is still at the top.

Here's the final Regular Season LIGA rankings (Thursday):

(1) ID HIT THAT        22-2      HIT THAT continued to dominate this season, almost flirting with perfection. Can they continue to cruise, or will they be tested in their chance to win back to back championships? They have played with a flair, a coolness that sometimes gets to their opposition. But the fact remains, they are the champs, and seem to be relishing it.

(2) HOME SCHOOLERS   16-8  Despite the last week, the SCHOOLERS amassed the best season in their tenure in the LIGA; Last season they got to the LIGA 4, losing in the semis; this season can they continue and get back to the LIGA 4?

(3) CONSISTENT CHAOS   15-9  CC started slow (0-6) then finished the season as the hottest team in the LIGA; they flew up the ladder and now sit in prime position to challenge for a LIGA title. Can they keep up great play?

(4) ID HIT THAT TOO   14-10   HIT THAT TOO was streaking until final week, which cost them a spot, but they have all the tools to get back to LIGA championships. They can be dominant at times, if theyre clicking on all cylinders.

(5) SERVING UP A BUZZ    11-13  SUAB finished the season on a bad note, dropping down the LIGA a few slots, and into the proverbial 4vs5 classic matchup. With championship experience on the team and a angry one at that, look for a focused SUAB squad this week

(6) SHANKAPOTOMOUS   10-14   SHANKA got a much needed series win last week, and are one of those teams that if they play really well, it could be a long night for the opponent. However, key injuries, and inconsistencies have hurt the squad. which SHANKA team will be on hand?

(7) CHILL N SERVE    7-18    CNS played well last week, with a series win; They will need to play with that intensity to have a shot into the LIGA 4. They have a tough squad, but can they come up with the big plays against a tough opponent to get those crucial points? We shall see. One things for sure; CNS will be ready to play.

(8) NOTHIN BUT NET    1-23  Unbelieveably, NBN got a big W on the last game of their season, so they're going into the tourney on a winning streak  - sort of. We haven't had a 8 seed beat a 1 seed in the LIGA 6 year history, but rest assured NBN will be fired up after last weeks big win.

Can the SCHOOLERS continue its magical season? Or will CNS put a chill on the SCHOOLERS? CNS has looked dominant at times, average others; can they outwork the SCHOOLERS, who seem to be on a upward trend?

(3) CONSISTENT CHAOS       vs    (6) SHANKAPOTOMOUS   (7:30pm)
In what will be a battle, can CC continue its hot play? Or will SHANKAPOTOMOUS get back to the LIGA 4, where they have been for 2 consecutive seasons? CHAOS has been lights out, and seem to be hitting on all cylinders.

(4) ID HIT THAT TOO       vs     (5) SERVING UP A BUZZ   (8:15pm)
In what will be the Game of the week, can HIT THAT TOO defeat a SUAB squad who has lost a little momentum? HIT THAT TOO lost its last series as well, so which team will be ready to move to LIGA 4 and get back on winning track?




NOTE:  We will be looking to do a quads or 6's Short Spring League (depending on interest). We will be hoping for a yes or no on Thursday when we ask you. The league will go for a month, starting March 19th, and Ending in Mid April. We know that most of you play sand volleyball, so we will try to accommodate you if we can.

After a competitive season, we have finally reached the end of the Regular Season: Here's the Final Standings and playoff for Wednesday LIGA

Wednesday LIGA Final Standings

(1) SET TO KILL 18-6 - STK came thru the door and busted it down, grabbing a Reg Season LIGA title in their first season. However, the playoffs are a different monster; Can STK continue to dominate and get its first LIGA title?

(2) NO NAMES 15-9 -    After starting slow, NO NAMES picked up the pace rapidly, and changed the game, moving up the ladder fast.  Can they win their first ever LIGA title? They seem hungry to do so.

(3) DARKSIDE 14-10 Ironically, DARKSIDE won the LIGA championship last season when in the 3 spot. Somehow they fell back into 3 spot again...Can they repeat history? And go back to back?

(4) BALL BUSTERS 14-10 BB started fast, slowed a little, and now will land in the dubious 4-5 matchup; BB has seen the LIGA Finals before; can they get there again?

(5) MICHELLE 12-12 - MICHELLE has been a enigmna all season - Started fast, was in first place; then had a losing streak, and finally ended on a good note; Which MICHELLE squad will show up?

(6) NET LOVE 12-12 - NET LOVE have played exactly like their record this season. Up and down, average some weeks, above average others; They have the talent and have championship mettle, but can they put it together in time for a serious title run?

(7) SOME LIKE IT HOT 6-18 - HOT ended on a decent note, winning 3 of its last 6 to get out of 8 spot. Can they pull off the huge upset and get to the LIGA 4? They have all the tools to do so.

(8) ROBERTS 6-18 ROBERTS had a good last week, and maybe it will propel them to a suprise showing in the LIGA Tourney; they have good players, but can they come together and shock the LIGA world?

Can STK continue to roll to semis- or will there be a upset to remember by ROBERTS? Roberts have played well in the last weeks, and won't back down a inch from the top seed.

Can NO NAMES continue its torrid streak? Or will HOT bring the heat to get a suprise W to get to LIGA semis?


(4) BALL BUSTERS vs (5) (MICHELLE) (7:30pm)
In what could be the game of the night, which squad will have more energy to pull thru this heavyweight battle in the first round? Can BB stay consistent and win, or will MICHELLE rise to the occasion?


(3) DARKSIDE vs (6) NET LOVE (8:15pm)
In another huge matchup pitting a former champ vs a current one, can NET LOVE rekindle the magic? Or will the DARKSIDE prove to be too much in their title defense?
